A Hy-Vee employee received a very special award Friday afternoon.
With family members and friends waiting at the door, the Hy-Vee store on Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls surprised the employee of 40 years. Brent Anderson, who now works as a dairy manager, even helped start the first store in Sioux Falls in the 1970's.
Anderson received the company's 2013 Hy-Vee Legendary Customer Service Award. This award is the highest honor presented to a Hy-Vee employee. It recognizes those who go above and beyond the call of duty to take care of customers.
Brent Anderson said, "i am just kind of shocked more than anything. i mean, i didn't really think anything was up and then all of a sudden they ewere really hustling me in this door because i usually always come in the other side of the store and so i go, 'what's going on here?'"
Only 10 recipients are selected each year from among more than 66,000 Hy-Vee employees. Winners are enshrined in the hy-vee legendary customer service hall of fame and receive additional gifts and honors, which include getting his picture on a hy-vee truck.
