The first annual Muddy Vike 5k, put on by the Sioux Falls YMCA, was held at Leif Ericson Day Camp Saturday morning.
Participants braved chilly temperatures, intense obstacles, and a lot of mud to compete in the challenge.
"This is just a fun race, it's nothing competitive. We'll probably have a few people who are competitive but this is just a community benefit. We want people to get out, get moving, have fun with their friends and family, and just have a great time," said Muddy Vike Director, Mike Smit.
More than 50 people participated in the race. Organizer Mike Smit says he hopes the event will continue to grow in the coming years.
