It’s been 16 months since the construction first began at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, but before the city puts the last steel beam on the building, they are inviting Sioux Falls residents to leave their mark.
People are invited to sign the 30-foot beam before it is hoisted up later this month. The beam will be at three locations this weekend. On Friday it will appear at Howard Wood Field from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. before the Washington and Rapid City Central football game. Then on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. it will be at the Empire Mall JCPenney north parking lot. Also, later on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Convention Center's main entrance.
“It’s a community celebration. We want people in the community to come out and sign it and make their mark on this building for generations ot come,” said Director of Public Works, Mark Cotter.
The city says 200 construction workers have been working on the events center every day.
