Hanson caps great career at Deubrook

Bookmark and Share

At first glance, Riley Hanson doesn't look that imposing.  Thing is that, if you try tackling him, one look....

....Is probably all you're going to get.

"Maybe juke one guy out, and that's what I like to do.  A lot of teams are expecting me to be more shifty than powerful.  And that's what I feel like I can do both and surprise them maybe.  And that's what I like doing."  Hanson says.

It's some of what's made Riley so valuable to Deubrook.

"A glue of our team for three years.  He's done it through receiving, through playing corner, returning kicks and punts, running the football.  I mean, he just does it all.  He's our playmaker.  He has been for three years and we rely on him to make plays for us each game."  Deubrook Head Coach Adolph Shepardson says.

This season he's mostly continued the Dolphin dominance at tailback.  After Ryan Knutson shouldered the load on last year's state championship team, Hanson is the workhorse this year....

...Becoming the third different back in as many seasons to set the school's single game rushing record with 361 yards against Elkton-Lake Benton in September.

"There's definitely a little battle between us.  Of course I want to beat him in everything and he knows that, and we're alright with whoever has the record."  Hanson says.

Whether he runs down Ryan or not, Riley has run past everyone else.
