Pirates rally in 2nd half for 5th state title!

Bookmark and Share

Tom Culver's Avon Pirates didn't panick when they were down 2 touchdowns in the 9-B championship game Friday at the Dakotadome. In fact he reminded them of West Central's comeback Thursday night and they responded with a 24-22 win despite a great performance from Hamlin's Brody Grantham who threw for 2 TD's and ran for a 3rd as they built a 22-8 half-time lead. But Avon scored the tying TD late and Devin Tolsma celebrated his 17th birthday with the winning 2-point conversion. It was the 5th state title for Avon, Hamlin has won 4.
