USF followed suit and scored eight straight points on three straight possessions, on two more 3-pointers by Johnson to make it a 39-37 game. That did not get the Vikings down as they scored 12 of the game's next 16 points to go up 51-41 with 1:32 to go in the half.

Augustana took a 51-45 halftime lead after shooting 65 percent (19 of 29) from the field in the first half, including 7 of 10 from 3-point range. The Vikings were led by Schilling's 13 first-half points with Matthew Brazendale and Jansen each adding nine points.

The Vikings pushed the lead to 10 at 55-45 a minute and a half into the second half but USF went on a 10-3 run over the next two minutes to make it a three point game at 58-55 in favor of the Vikings. That is as close as Augustana would allow the Cougars to get as the Vikings were able to push the lead back up to 10 at 72-62 with 9:31 remaining in the game. Brazendale scored five points during that stretch and seven over a minute span and the Vikings and the Vikings continued to add to their lead.
