Abandoned Puppies Found Safe

Two Puppies Found Abandoned In Yankton Trash Bin

Police in Yankton are investigating the abandonment of two puppies found tied up in a plastic bag and thrown in a trash bin behind a store.

The puppies are a Yorkie-Maltese cross and about nine weeks old. A person searching for a box found them late Friday.

Animal Control Officer Lisa Brasel says the puppies were dirty but in good health. They’re being cared for by the person who found them and a friend of his.

It’s the second time this month that puppies have been found abandoned in a trash bin in South Dakota. Six puppies were rescued from a garbage bag inside a bin in Sioux Falls on Jan. 10.
