Pheasants Forever Celebrates Grand Opening of Regional Headquarters

Over a hundred people gathered in Brookings on Friday for the grand opening and dedication of the Pheasants Forever Regional Headquarters.

Pheasants Forever leaders say in the last few years they’ve had a wake-up call to do more to protect the cherished heritage of pheasant hunting.

With the new facility in Brookings, Pheasants Forever hopes to work with farmers, landowners, and various agencies to improve habitats for pheasants.

Dave Nomsen, director of the Pheasants Forever South Dakota regional office, said “The key to pheasants, of course, is habitat. We’re here to help farmers and landowners make good decisions about wildlife habitat as part of their farms and ranches.”

Governor Dennis Daugaard was also at the grand opening and asked for people’s help in getting South Dakota legislators to approve the $1.5 million proposal to conserve pheasant habitat.
