Dakota State Signs 18 Football Recruits

Trojans ink 18 to play college football

Dakota State University head football coach Josh Anderson is proud to announce the signing of eighteen Spring Semester transfers as well as nineteen high school recruits to the 2015 recruiting class.

Below are the initial recruits of the 2015 Trojan Football recruiting class:

Junior College Spring Transfers

Andrew Adlersberg, OL – 6’0″ – 265 – Los Angeles Valley College, son of Laura Adlersberg of Burbank, Calif.; Coach: Joe Pierro; Intended Major: Computer Science. “Andrew is an experienced addition to our Offensive Line. He is very athletic and brings a lot of energy to our team.”

Alex Babcock, TE – 6’3″ – 245 – Wolsey-Wessington, son of Jim and Sherry Babcock of Wolsey, S.D.; Coach: Gordon Hooks; Intended Major: Finance. “Alex was a great athlete out of high school and decided initially not to play in college. We are happy that he decided to come out in the spring and we expect him to do some great things for us at the Tight End position.”

Andrew Bressler, DL – 6’1″ – 245 – Black Hills State University, son of Dave and Tacy of Spearfish, S.D.; Coach: Chad McCarty; Intended Major: Exercise Science. “Andrew is a great kid who brings a lot to the table for our program. His athleticism would allow him to play a few different positions for us, but no matter where he ends up he will have success.”

Lance Bullard, DL – 6’2″ – 305 – Ellsworth Community College, son of Aletha Collie of Sunrise, Fla.; Coach: Thomas Marante; Intended Major: Undecided. “Lance is a big guy who adds some priceless experience to our Defensive Line. He played against some terrific competition at Ellsworth and we expect him to create some serious competition on the interior of our Defensive Line.”

TJ Deidigha, DB – 6’2″ – 200 – Merrillville High School, son of Victor and Veronica Deidigha of Crown Point, Ind.; Coach: Zach Wells; Intended Major: Accounting. “TJ is a big Defensive Back and will come in and challenge our returners immediately. His size and athleticism will be a welcome addition to our secondary.”

LJ Grimes, CB – 5’10” – 175 – Graceland University, son of Leon and Carolyn Grimes of Austintown, Ga.; Intended Major: General Studies. “LJ is an incredible athlete and has spent time in the Division One level. He is an exceptional kid on top of that and we couldn’t be more excited to have him in our secondary.”

Doug Hale, WR – 6’2″ – 195 – William Penn University, son of Scott and Gina Hale of Polk City, Iowa; Intended Major: Business Management. “Doug is a big, physical receiver and will be a great help on our edge blocking. He brings some good playing experience with him and immediately gives us help at the position.”

Marty Henderson, DB – 6’0″ – 215 – Pacific University, son of Thomas Chatman of Forest Grove, Ore.; Coach: Dwight Jensen; Intended Major: Undecided. “Marty is another big, strong defensive back. He has some great experience and will immediately help to shore up our secondary.”

Danny Jordan, DB – 5’8″ – 175 – Morningside College, of Lake View Terrace, Calif.; Coach: Andrew Kim; Intended Major: Business Management. “Danny got some playing time at NAIA powerhouse Morningside last year and is a huge addition to our secondary. He will create some serious competition back there and is a very welcome addition to the Trojan Family.”

Victor Magana, OL – 6’2″ – 330 – Victor Valley Community College, son of Brian and Blanca Griffin of Las Vegas, Nev.; Coach: David Cochrane; Intended Major: Physical Education. “Victor is a huge Defensive Tackle that will immediately give us help on our Defensive Interior. He is a great kid and we are looking for big things from Victor this spring.”

Mike McAlister, DE – 6’6″ – 225 – Bacone College, son of Latonya Monson of Madera, Calif.; Intended Major: Physical Education. “Mike is the definition of an athlete. He has the size and the speed you look for in a Defensive End at the Division One level. We look for him to do big things for us next season.”

Austin Meester, WR – 6’3″ – 185 – Northern State University, son of Mark and Deanna Meester of Beresford, S.D.; Coach: Mike Busch; Intended Major: Elementary Education. “Austin is a kid we recruited last year who went the Division 2 route and came back to us. He is a great kid and adds some serious athleticism to our Receiving Corps.”

Tyzek Price, DL – 6’3″ – 255 – Fresno City College, of Madera, Calif.; Intended Major: General Studies. “Ty is a welcome addition to our Defensive Line and has the ability to do a lot of different things for us. He could slide down inside for us as well as play outside. We are excited to have him add competition this spring ball.”

Hunter Smith, SS – 6’0″ – 215 – Morningside College, son of Charles Smith of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Coach: DSU Alum Kim Nelson; Intended Major: Exercise Science. “Hunter is a very physical safety and adds some toughness to our secondary. He played for NAIA powerhouse Morningside this past season and we are excited to get him back home in South Dakota in our Trojan family.”

Travis Smith, RB – 5’10” – 205 – College of Marin, Fresno, Calif.; Intended Major: Physical Education. “Travis is a hard working kid who is very athletic. He had a stint playing with us in the past and we are happy to have him back this season.”

Brandon Tulenchik, LB – 6’1″ – 220 – Central Lakes College, son of Steve and Joyce Tulenchik of Brainerd, Minn.; Coach: Chip Lohmiller; Intended Major: Physical Education. “Brandon adds some experience to our Linebacking core and plays very physical. We are excited to welcome him to the Trojan Family.”

Nick Van Roekel, LB – 6’1″ – 200 – Central College, son of Mark Van Roekel and Lisa Gritters of Sioux Center, Iowa; Coach: Tim Van Regenmorter; Intended Major: Business. “Nick is a great kid and has all the tools to help us out in the future. We are happy to have him join our Trojan Family and look for him to do great things for our Linebacking core.”

Ramon Williams, OL – 6’4″ – 285 – Clark Atlanta University, son of Alicia Bledsoe of Sacramento, Calif.; Intended Major: Education. “Ramon is a big, strong kid with Division 2 playing experience. He should bring serious competition to help make our Offensive Line better and better. He understands football well and is a huge add for our Offensive Line.”

High School Signees

Kevin Andersen, RB – 5’8″ – 200 – Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School, son of Bob and Patty Andersen of Lake Benton, MN; Coach: John Frederickson; Intended Major: Exercise Science. “Kevin is a tough runner and a very bright kid. We are excited to have him join our family.”

Kurtis Blanchard, WR – 6’0″ – 185 – San Pasqual High School, son of Scott and Christina Blanchard of San Diego, Calif.; Coach: Andrew Clark; Intended Major: Physical Education. “Kurtis is a solid athlete and a great kid. We are excited to have him come in and compete at receiver for us.”

Casey Bourque, K – 6’0″ – 185 – Lake City High School, son of John and Cathlene Bourque of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Intended Major: Undecided. “Casey is a solid Kicker with Madison ties. We are excited for him to join the Trojan Family and compete at our kicker spot.”

Josh Brown, OL – 6’1″ – 320 – Ben Davis High School, of Indianapolis, Ind.; Coach: Mike Kirschner; Intended Major: Exercise Science. “Josh is a big physical Offensive Lineman from a great high school program. He should come in and immediately help us out on our Offensive Line.”

Matt Cavanaugh, OL – 6’0″ – 290 – Yorkville High School, son of Randy and Paula Cavanaugh of Bristol, Ill.; Coach: Karl Hoinkes; Intended Major: Athletic Training. “Matt is a big, physical lineman who knows how to run and block extremely well. We are excited he decided to become a part of the Trojan Family and will be a great addition to our Offensive Line.”

Caleb Cink, H – 5’9″ – 165 – Park Center High School, son of Kevin and Heather Cink of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; Intended Major: Computer Game Design. “Caleb is an athletic kid who is fun to be around. We are excited to have him in our Trojan Family as a Slot Receiver.”

Elijah Colbert, OL – 6’1″ – 280 – Durango High School, son of Nicole Shelton of Las Vegas, Nev.; Coach: Matt Gerber; Intended Major: Undecided. “Elijah is a big guy who will be a great addition to our Offensive Line. We are excited he decided to join his older brother in our Trojan Family.”

Brad Conn, DE – 6’6″ – 215 – Pickering High School, of Leesville, La.; Coach: John Cryer; Intended Major: Undecided. “Brad has a great frame and great athleticism. He will grow into a force at the DE position and we are excited to welcome him to our family.”

Mahcia Davis, CB – 5’10” – 170 – Concord High School, son of Keenan and Chavonne Dorsey of New Castle, Del.; Intended Major: Exercise Science. “Mahcia is a great Cornerback who actually signed with us last year. We are excited to have him and his brother coming our this year to help us win some football games.”

Keenan Dorsey, DL – 5’10” – 260 – Concord High School, son of Keenan and Chavonne Dorsey of New Castle, Del.; Intended Major: Exercise Science. “Keenan adds more beef to our Defensive Interior and is very athletic. We are excited he decided to join the Trojan Family and are excited to see him compete on our Defensive Line.”

Kolbey Fourtner, OL – 6’0″ – 290 – North Platte St. Patricks, son of Daren and Jackie Fourtner of North Platte, Neb.; Coach: Kevin Dodson; Intended Major: Business Management. “Kolbey is a big kid who played for a great high school program. We are excited to have him join our Trojan Family.”

Xavier Graham, DL – 5’11” – 265 – Omaha Central, son of Xavier and Angelita Graham of Omaha, Neb.; Coach: Jay Ball and DSU Alum Matt Storm; Intended Major: Undecided. “Xavier is a huge addition to our Defensive Line and is someone who can make an immediate difference. He can play anywhere on the Defensive Line and has great explosion off the ball. We look for him to do big things for us.”

Mason Hemmer, WR – 5’9″ – 165 – Madison High School, son of Joe and Susan Hemmer of Madison, S.D.; Coach: DSU Alum Max Hodgen; Intended Major: Business. “Mason is a playmaker and has great speed and agility. We are excited to keep him in Madison as a part of our Trojan Family.”

Andrew Kramer, QB – 6’3″ – 180 – Riverside High School, son of Jeff and Roberta Kramer of Colbert, Wash.; Coach: Tom Griggs; Intended Major: Elementary Education. “Andrew was one of our first additions to the 2015 class and is a Quarterback with a great frame. We are excited to welcome him to the Trojan Family and have him compete at the Quarterback position for us.”

Dan Larson, DB – 6’0″ – 175 – Sioux Falls Roosevelt, son of David and Edie Kavanaugh of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Coach: DSU Alum Kim Nelson; Intended Major: Business. “Dan is a tremendous athlete who has played the best competition in South Dakota. He has a physical presence and will add some great competition to our secondary. We are happy to have him join our family.”

Trever Listman, WR – 6’0″ – 180 – Spanish Springs High School, son of Kevin and Robin Listman of Sparks, Nev.; Coach: Eric Borja and DSU Alum Bryce Anderson; Intended Major: Undecided. “Trever is a great kid an athlete. He will come in and compete for a receiver spot. We are excited to have him join our family.”

Daulton Mercer, DB – 5’9″ – 160 – Stanley County High School, son of Todd and Vonda Mercer of Pierre, S.D.; Coach: Jeff Hegge; Intended Major: Graphic Design. “Daulton is a great local kid who will be a great addition to our secondary. He is a hard worker and will add some depth to our secondary.”

James Terrill, LB – 5’10” – 210 – Seton Catholic, son of Joel and Mary Terrill of Chandler, Ariz.; Coach: Rex Bowser; Intended Major: Business. “James was an early commit for us and comes from a great program in Arizona. We are excited to have him join our Linebacking core.”

Mark Thomas, OL – 6’0″ – 265 – Dwight D. Eisenhower High School, son of Mark and Kathy Thomas of Blue Island, Ill.; Coach: Travis Moore; Intended Major: Psychology. “Mark is a solid lineman from a big school in Illinois. He is a great addition to our family and we are excited to have him competing on our Offensive Line.”
