“The Daily Scoop” is the morning segment on KDLT News Today that highlights the day’s top trending stories on social media.

“Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 40th anniversary with a primetime special Sunday night.

“Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon kicked-off the show with old friend Justin Timberlake, performing a rap about some of the more enduring sketches of the past four-decades.

Original cast member Dan Akroyd re-created his Bass-O-Matic sketch from the first season. There were plenty of taped retrospectives as well, including audition tapes of players from all generations.

Sir Paul McCartney was on a musical guest list that included Miley Cyrus and Kanye West.

The show, of course, drew lots of laughs, but the biggest reaction may have been when “American Sniper” hunk Bradley Cooper locked-lips with 93-year-old Betty White!

“Fifty Shades of Grey” scores with female audiences

The hype and curiosity surrounding “Fifty Shades of Grey” paid off at the box office, where it was the runaway number one movie this weekend.

The adaptation of the EL James erotic best seller debuted with just under $82 million in ticket sales. Universal pictures said audiences were 68 percent female.

The second spot was taken by “Kingsman: The Secret Service.” The comic book adaptation starring Colin Firth and Samuel l. Jackson opened with a take of nearly $36 million.

Last weekend’s top flick came in third this time around. “The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” earned almost $31 million in its second weekend.

Jim Cantore “amazed” by thundersnow

Early Sunday morning, the Weather Channel Meteorologist, Jim Cantore was covering the snow storm in Plymouth, Massachusetts when it began to thundersnow.

While a somewhat rare occurrence, Cantore captured the phenomenon on camera more than once, getting more and more excited each time.
