Sioux Falls Man Attempts To Set “Swamp Thing” Guinness World Record

There are all kinds of strange world records, but this one might be at the top of the list.

Saturday, dozens of people joined John Boylan of Sioux Falls in attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the largest “Swamp Thing” collection in the world.

“Swamp Thing” is a fictional comic book character.

Over the years, Boylan has collected more than 750 items including books, memorabilia and toys, of the plant creature.

He says while it would be nice to set the first ever “Swamp Thing” collection record, it’s getting to share his love of “Swamp Thing” with the Sioux Falls community that’s most important.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen my collection on display,” said Boylan. “Usually I have a few select pieces out but usually, it’s stored away. So to see it with everyone else for the first time with them, it’s just an awesome experience and fun to share it with them.”

Boylan says he’ll know within the next month if he’s set the record for the largest “Swamp Thing” collection in the world.
