With the large crowd, Sioux Falls set a single season USHL attendance record by drawing 191,280 fans on the season. Sioux Falls drops to 32-22-5 on the season while Sioux City improves to 38-17-5.

With the Musketeers win and Tri-Cities loss at Dubuque, the Musketeers clinched the Western Conference regular season title meaning they will face the Stampede in a Western Conference semifinal series beginning Tuesday in Sioux Falls.

The Herd jumped out to a 1-0 lead just over five minutes into the game when Dakota Joshua took the puck out of the right wing corner, skated through the slot and wristed the puck into the upper right hand corner of the net past Sioux City goaltender Collin Olson.

Just over six minutes later the Stampede struck again when Logan O’Connor knocked in a loose puck in front of the net to give Sioux Falls a 2-0 edge heading into the second period. Sioux Falls outshot the Musketeers 19-5 in the period.

Sioux Falls added to their lead just 21 seconds into the period when Chris Pohlkamp’s shot from the right circle was deflected in by Cooper Marody. Marody was streaking across the slot when he jumped in the air deflected the puck past Olson to give Sioux Falls a 3-0 edge. Sioux City would get a goal back to make it a 3-1 game, but the Stampede appeared to regain the three goal edge just minutes later.

Parker Tumoie wrapped a shot around from behind the net that looked like it just crossed the goal line, but the referee never indicated a goal and the replay did not show the puck crossing the line so the game remained 3-1 heading into the third. Sioux Falls outshot Sioux City 10-9 in the period.

Sioux Falls entered the night with a perfect 26-0-0 record when leading after two periods this season, but that record would fall in the final home game of the regular season. Sioux City scored four more goals in the period, including an empty netter to seal it, and took the game from the Herd 5-3. Robert Carpenter scored tallied a hat trick in the game while Adam Johnson finished with a goal and assist. The loss was the Stampede’s second at home in three games and dropped their regular season series record against the Musketeers to 2-6-0.

The Stampede outshot the Musketers 46-27 on the night and finished 1-for-1 on the power play while Sioux City was 2-for-2. Stefanos Lekkas took the loss in goal, stopping 22 of 26 shots on the night.
