NBC moves Brian Williams to MSNBC, Lester Holt to anchor “Nightly News”

NBC news confirms Brian Williams will not return to his job as “Nightly News” anchor.

However he will remain with NBC anchoring breaking news reports at the cable network MSNBC.

Williams was suspended in February for falsely claiming he had been in a helicopter hit by enemy fire during the Iraq war.

NBC launched an internal investigation that turned up other instances where Williams embellished or misrepresented his experiences, frequently during appearances on talk shows.

Lester Holt, who has been subbing for Williams since the suspension, will take over the job full-time.

Holt, who is 56, has been a television news reporter for 34 years.

He joined NBC in 2000 and became the full-time anchor of “Weekend Nightly News” in 2007.

Blake Shelton lends a helping hand

Country superstar, TV host, and now you can add wet weather rescuer to Blake Shelton’s resume.

It all happened Wednesday as Tropical Storm Bill passed through Oklahoma.

Somewhere along a country road, Roho Hartman’s truck got stuck in the mud and rising floodwaters.

He and another passerby were pushing his stalled truck up a hill when a dodge pulled up, with a handy tow rope, and a familiar face.

Shelton helped him get his truck to safety and even gave Roho a ride home.

Before long, they were home, the family snapped a few photos, and Blake was off.

Roho now hopes someday he can repay the favor.
