NBA D-League Expands To 19 Teams

Toronto Raptors Team To Be Named Raptors 905, Play Home Games At Mississauga’s Hershey Centre

The NBA Development League and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment announced today the Toronto Raptors have acquired the right to own and operate an NBA D-League team. The new club, Raptors 905, will be the record 19th NBA D-League team and will play its home games at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.

“We are thrilled to bring an NBA Development League team to basketball fans across the 905 region,” said Masai Ujiri, Toronto Raptors president and general manager.

The Raptors are the ninth NBA team to own an NBA D-League franchise, joining the Cleveland Cavaliers (Canton Charge), Golden State Warriors (Santa Cruz Warriors), Los Angeles Lakers (L.A. D-Fenders), New York Knicks (Westchester Knicks), Oklahoma City Thunder (Oklahoma City Blue), Philadelphia 76ers (Delaware 87ers), San Antonio Spurs (Austin Spurs) and Utah Jazz (Idaho Stampede).
