Sioux Falls Man Illustrates First Children’s Book

'Someone Like Daddy' released Friday in SF

A Sioux Falls man and Augustana grad is putting his pen to paper and starting a new venture into illustrating children’s books.

Stephen L. Stadem earned his bachelor’s degree in art from Augustana College and spent several years painting and studying water colors.

He says he was approached by a friend and author, Neil Johnson, about the possibility of illustrating a book, and decided to go for it.

The book, ‘Someone Like Daddy’ is about a young girl and her special relationship with her father.

“I hope it resonates with people, and I think the message is real strong,” said Stadem, who has three daughters. “My hope would be the images, the painting would help the story come to life.”

‘Someone Like Daddy’ will make its debut in Sioux Falls Friday night.

A book signing and release party will be held at Dunn Bros Coffee at 6:30 p.m.
