Marine Cove Raising Funds To Replace Caribbean Aquarium

The Marine Cove’s only Caribbean Exhibit has been drained due to a leak, and the Caribbean Cove Challenge is raising funds to replace the aquarium.

The aquarium will cost $30,000 to replace. The Caribbean Cove Challenge has received a $10,000 challenge gift, which will match all donations dollar-for-dollar through December 31, 2015.

The Sertoma Butterfly House & Marine Cove is South Dakota’s only public saltwater aquarium. The Marine Cove was added to the Butterfly House in 2011, and has been adding new aquarium exhibits since then, including a Shark & Stingray Touch Pool, Pacific Tide Pool, Seahorses, Clownfish, and several coral reef exhibits.

The Sertoma Butterfly House & Marine Cove is a nonprofit organization funded entirely by admissions, memberships, gift shop sales, and donations. No funding is received from the City of Sioux Falls, State of South Dakota, or Sertoma Club.
