75 Deer Tags Approved In Sioux Falls Deer Control Program

Project to control the Sioux Falls deer population expands

Game, Fish and Parks has approved the expansion of a deer management program in Sioux Falls.

Seventy-five deer tags were recently approved in an effort to better control the deer population in the city. The area targeted will also be expanded to both north and southeast Sioux Falls.

Last year, officers removed 30 deer from the area. The increase comes after the City collected input from citizens in a number of surveys and forums.

Sioux Falls is controlling the population in hopes of creating a healthier herd and limiting traffic collisions with deer. The meat collected from the program will be donated to area food banks.

Trained officers will finish removing the deer by February 15.
