If you’ve watched any type of famous cartoon on TV,there’s a good chance you’ve seen some of the work done by Ron Campbell.
He was director of the legendary Beatles cartoon in the 1960’s. And he worked on shows like Scooby Doo, Rugrats, Winnie the Pooh and more!
Ron will be in Sioux Falls this weekend for a meet and greet!
On Friday, Ron joined Kevin on KDLT News Today to talk more about his work and the upcoming event.
Campbell says his career spanned 50 years and one month. He worked on dozens of shows during that time in several different capacities.
He started his career with shows like Popeye and Beatle Bailey – and later moved to the Beatles Saturday morning cartoon.
It gave him the opportunity to direct and produce in Australia, his home country, before he moved to the United States.
Another show he worked on was Scooby Doo. He was involved in the very early development drawings used for the pitch of the show. He also storyboarded some of the early episodes.
“Bill Hannah used to send things over to his studio to produce,” Campbell said. “I produced a lot of shows for Hannah-Barbara.”
