Music Lineup Announced For RibFest 2016

Big Head Todd and the Monsters to headline

Rib smackin’, boot shakin’, beer drinkin’ good times are on tap for this year’s RibFest at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls.

This year’s RibFest, a partnership between SMG Sioux Falls, which operates the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, the Sioux Empire Fair Association and Pepper Entertainment, is scheduled for June 2-5.

RibFest is presented by long-time sponsor Campbell’s, the home of “Your Friends in the Red Shirts.”

RibFest kicks off Thursday night with blues/alternative rockers Big Head Todd and the Monsters headlining, along with Cracker, and Anchondo, based in Omaha. Big Head Todd and the Monsters burst on the music scene with 1993’s platinum-selling album Sister Sweetly, which produced the Top 40 hits “Broken Hearted Savior,” “Bittersweet,” and “Circle.”

Friday night is headlined by British rock stars Bush, best known for their six-time platinum selling album Sixteen Stone, making Bush one of the biggest rock acts of the 90s. Joining Bush on Friday will be Fuel, Isaiah James & The Chains, and Sioux City-based Saul.

Saturday night’s lineup features country music great Joe Nichols. Owner of five No. 1 hits, including “Brokenheartsville,” “Yeah,” and “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off,” Nichols has produced 14 Top 40 singles on the Billboard charts. Leading up to Nichols will be Chris Lane and Dustin Evans & The Goodtimes Band.

RibFest hours are Thursday 4 p.m. – 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. An all-weekend pass is $30. Daily admission is $10 Thursday, $15 Friday, $5 Saturday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., then $15. A limited number of VIP passes are $75 for all three nights, or $50 each night. RibFest will be open to the public free of charge on Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission includes all concerts.

Active members of the military, reservists, National Guard members, and veterans plus one family member free admission throughout the entire event thanks to a sponsorship by Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort.

Tickets go on sale March 31 at 10 a.m. at the PREMIER Center box offices,, charge-by-phone at 800-745-300, and all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets will also be available each day at the gate, which is sponsored by John Morrell’s.

Parents and kids alike will enjoy the annual KidzFest on Sunday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. with free admission for all thanks to sponsor Sanford Children’s.

Seven national award-winning rib vendors will be joined by one local rib vendor to vie for the coveted People’s Choice and Critic’s Choice awards for cash prizes and trophies.
