Alarm Company Helps Police Catch Walgreens Burglary Suspect

Thanks to an alarm company, Sioux Falls Police was able to catch a burglary suspect just minutes after the attempt took place.

Eighteen-year-old Austin Esser of Sioux Falls was arrested for 1st degree burglary on Saturday morning. Police say they were contacted by the alarm company regarding a break-in at the Walgreens on South Sycamore Avenue just after 6 a.m. They say an officer saw Esser’s vehicle leaving the business and stopped him just a block or so away. Police say he matched the description of the suspect on video.

Police say Esser attempted to break in through the store’s drive in window, but he wasn’t able to get any items in the pharmacy.
