Dance the Night Away: Sioux Falls Ballroom Dance Club Turns 70
The club started in 1946 as the Mr. And Mrs. Dance Club
Dozens of couples danced the night away tonight in the El Riad Shrine Ballroom Friday night.
Ballroom dresses, dancing shoes and jazz pants were in no short supply on the dance floor.
Couples tango’ed their way around to celebrate the Sioux Falls Ballroom Dance Club‘s 70th anniversary.
The club started in 1946 as the Mr. And Mrs. Dance Club and transformed over the years into a social group for all dance enthusiasts regardless of age or ability.
“It is a chance for a lot of people to connect and do something together for couples. We talk to a lot of folks who are empty nesting, and they’re reconnecting together, and this is something to do together. To learn together and to do together in a beautiful atmosphere,” said Jeff Pray, President of the Sioux Falls
Swing is the most popular, but the group dances everything from the waltz, to the cha-cha.
