Authorities Seize $500,000 Worth Of Meth, Black Tar Heroin In Joint Bust

Authorities from several agencies have seized 5 pounds of crystal meth and 2 pounds of black tar heroin, estimated at a street value of $500,000.

According to South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley, on July 11, the black tar heroin was seized from a 19-year-old man living in the Brookings area. After investigating some leads, authorities then seized the large amount of crystal meth two days later.

“South Dakota is fighting back the meth and heroin epidemic with strong enforcement efforts and moving forward on an education program focused on protecting our youth,” Jackley says.

The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, Brookings Police Department, Watertown Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation conducted the joint operation.

Jackley says that narcotics offenses are pending for those involved.
