Scheels Hosts Dock Dog Competition

Area canines can participate in three categories: height, length and speed

With pheasant goose hunting season right around the corner, Scheels held an outdoor exposition in Sioux Falls.

But it was more than just a big sale.

They had activities for people of all ages, and even their pets.

Dogs got in on the fun, participating in a Dock Dog jumping competition.

An upwards of 20 to 30 dogs registered, and even though some were a little hesitant, many furry friends took the leap competing for the longest jump, the highest jump and the fastest toy retrieval.

The Scheels Events Coordinator says the Dock Dog jump adds an extra element to the hunting-geared event.

“Hunters love the great deals that happen out here, the weather is perfect for it, why not get out and have some fun with Dock Dogs, hunting and everything,” says Alex Koob.

The jumping competition lasts until 4 p.m.

Scheels has been holding the expo for the last 7 years.

This year, they had 23 vendors out in their parking lot.
