Mingo’s Latest Title Extra Rewarding

Megan wins state title on home course

Winning a second straight SDGA Amateur title at Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton meant a little more to Megan Mingo.

“Definitely! I mean I’ve been a member here my entire life so it does mean more because I’ve played it so much.” Yankton Native Mingo says.

The Jackrabbit senior has come a long way since her days with the Gazelle.

“It’s actually just calmed me down. I mean, being on a great team with great teammates has taken the pressure off a little bit so I’ve been playing great all through my college career.” Megan says.

As a junior Megan had one of the finest seasons in SDSU history. She set the school and Summit League record for best stroke average at 74.84 on her way to a first team all-conference nod.

“Really bumps my confidence up definitely. Great way to go into the golf season at SDSU.” Mingo says.

And like her amateur win….

“Last year was a great year for me so I hope to do just as good as that and I’d be fine with that!” Megan says.

…It’s a feat she’d like to repeat as a senior!
