Lake County Commission Votes To Disband Volunteer Search And Rescue

Cite Failure To Meet "Compliance" For Decision

Lake County uses a volunteer search and rescue team during some emergencies.

Tuesday, however, Lake County commissioners voted unanimously to disband that team.

Commissioners said the volunteer search and rescue team did not come into compliance with necessary paperwork, which including items such as training history.

They also said after asking for the paperwork on several occasions, the search and rescue team “stepped back” and decided to disband.

No additional comments were made by commissioners regarding the decision.

An Ad-Hoc committee, which is a specific task force committee, will be in charge of operations going forward.

On the task force includes several Lake County officials, such as the state’s attorney and sheriff.
