Sanford Surgeon Indicted By Grand Jury Receives Additional Charges

A Sanford surgeon accused of human trafficking is facing additional charges.

Jonathan David Cohen, 36, has been charged with four counts of human trafficking, six counts of sexual exploitation, four counts of procuring or promoting prostitution, two counts of the possession, manufacturing or distribution of child pornography,  two counts of contributing to the abuse/neglect of a child, two counts of possession of marijuana two ounces or less, two counts of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana to a minor and two counts of the possession or use of drug paraphernalia.

Cohen was originally charged with human trafficking, procuring or promoting prostitution, sexual exploitation of a minor, and solicitation of a minor stemming from an incident on Oct. 4 with a 16-year-old Georgia girl.

The surgeon currently has his medical license under investigation and has voluntarily refrained from practicing.

Cohen is expected to make another court appearance Wed., Oct. 26.
