Sioux Falls Zombie Walk Takes Over Downtown Saturday

This Saturday, the living dead will take over downtown Sioux Falls. The Sioux Falls Zombie Walk will creep through the streets, but this unique parade isn’t just for the thrills.

Joy Falencik with the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz, the group organizing the parade, says this is the eleventh year of the Zombie Walk. She estimates there were about 1,500 people who took part last year with even more spectating on the sidewalks. Falencik says the Roller Dollz will be on hand to help with makeup at the Icon Lounge from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Registration can also be done then for just $3, and that’s when parents can sign a waiver for their children to participate. The parade route is new this year, starting at the Icon Lounge and looping around the Siouxland Libraries back to the Icon Lounge.

Falencik says the Zombie Walk is also a fundraiser for the Roller Dollz and an organization called Be a Lifesaver, which aims to prevent suicide and raise awareness among teens and adults.
