Man Arrested After Throwing Belt Buckle At Child

A Sioux Falls man is behind bars after police say he injured an 11-year-old boy with a belt buckle.

Keith McCauley, 39,  was arrested Friday night in the 4400 block of West Briggs Drive after reportedly throwing a belt buckle at his son, leaving a quarter-inch-long wound above the boy’s eye.

They say he threw the belt buckle after the boy became angry while playing a video game. Police say the boy tried to call 911, but McCauley disconnected the phone.

They say the boy’s mother took him and her 16-year-old son to the hospital for treatment and that they arrested McCauley later that night.

He faces two counts of felony child abuse, interference with emergency communication and suppression of evidence.
