SFPD: Man In Critical Condition After He Was Beaten With Chair

Another Man Behind Bars For Aggravated Assault

A Sioux Falls man is in critical condition after police say another man beat him with a chair.

Thirty-one-year-old Daniel Murillo of Sioux Falls is charged with aggravated assault. Police say on Sunday afternoon, Murillo walked up behind a 61-year-old sitting outside the Union Gospel Mission and punched him several times.

Police say the victim fell to the ground and Murillo kept punching him. They say he also grabbed a chair and hit the victim in the head with it multiple times.

Officer Sam Clemens said, “The suspect swung this chair so many times at the victim that it ended up breaking the chair and then he picked up a piece of the chair and continued hitting the victim.”

Police say the attack was unprovoked. They say Murillo could face other charges depending on whether the victim recovers.
