Thune, Noem Weigh In On Trump’s Presidential Victory

South Dakota’s congressional delegation is speaking out about Donald Trump’s historic win.

U.S. Senator John Thune says he’s surprised by Trump’s victory.  Thune says he gives credit to the billionaire businessman.  He believes Trump appealed to voters by running a campaign that addressed major concerns in the nation.  Thune is also asking for Trump’s opponents to have faith.

“I think it’s just important that he be given a chance, to see what he and his administration might be able to do.  I think the people will find that he’s going to be committed to getting solutions to all Americans,” Sen. Thune said Wednesday evening.

Congresswoman Kristi Noem says she’s excited about Trump’s presidency.  She believes he will help pass bills she’s worked on that President Obama hasn’t signed into law.  Tuesday night, Republicans swept control of the White House and Congress.

Noem says citizens and politicians have to work together and move on from the controversy that surfaced during the presidential race.

“Donald Trump has said some things in the past that he’s apologized for and I appreciate that.  I think it’s time for us to get up in the morning, and go forward and focus on what we can do to really make America the place we all dreamed of,” Rep. Noem says.

Trump was victorious despite Hillary Clinton winning the popular vote.
