Rep. Kristi Noem To Run For Governor In 2018

Rep. Kristi Noem will not seek re-election to the U.S. House in 2018. Instead, Noem says she will run for governor of South Dakota.

Noem released a video Monday night declaring her intentions to run for governor.

Last Tuesday, Noem won her fourth term in the U.S. House, defeating challenger Paula Hawks. Noem says her goal in politics has been to make a difference, not make a career out of Congress.

Noem says that her campaign won’t officially kick off until 2017, but she wanted residents to know that she is “all in” on the 2018 gubernatorial race.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard is in his final term as South Dakota’s governor.

Noem would be South Dakota’s first female governor.
