Two People Arrested After Marijuana Growing Operation Discovered In Rural Brandon

Two people have been arrested after a marijuana growing operation was found at a home in rural Brandon on Sunday.

According to Capt. Jason Gearman of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, Jesse Elofson, 35, and Jessica Farley, 37, were arrested after Brandon Police responded to an overdose call at 1104 North Chestnut Boulevard in rural Brandon. They found a woman who had become ill after eating a brownie with marijuana in it. During the response, authorities found people had been growing marijuana inside the home.

After a search warrant was issued, authorities seized 28 marijuana plants and several weapons including an illegal short-barreled shotgun. They also found cocaine residue and dismantled several growing rooms Gearman says.

Elofson and Farley have both been charged with possession of marijuana in range of 1 to 10 pounds.

Gearman says the states attorney can add additional charges. He says the two that were arrested do face federal charges stemming from the illegal weapon.
