Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons Holds Parents Meetings
This weekend, the Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons will be making stops around the area to meet with parents about getting girl involved. Plus, it’s a fun event for the girls too and they’ll get to meet some princesses.
Nancy Tapken with GSDH says the hour-long meetings will be for parents to learn more about the Girl Scouts, how it can benefit their daughters, and what being a part of a troop is like. She says she wants parents and girls to know that the Girl Scouts is for everyone, whether a girl likes painting, science, Lego League, hiking, animals, basketball, makeup and more. Tapken says these parents’ meetings have a princess spin, and girls can wear their princess costumes– or other costumes if they’d like. They’ll even get to make princess crowns and meet Belle from “Beauty and the Beast.” The first meeting on Saturday is at 10 a.m. at Hilltop United Methodist Church at 1312 S. Bahnson Avenue, and the second will be at 2 p.m. at Ronning Library at 3100 E. 49th Street.
GSDH will also be holding a “Glamping” event Friday night in Sioux Falls, which combines “glamour” and “camping.” The girls will learn about skin care, hear from volunteer speakers, and even get to make and take home their own clutch with pot holders that they can use for whatever they’d like. That event is at the Ramkota in Sioux Falls and goes from 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.
