SF Police: Employee Pepper Sprayed While Trying To Catch Shoplifter

Police say the employee of a Sioux Falls business was pepper sprayed while trying to catch a shoplifter.

The assault happened at a business near 10th Street and Sycamore Avenue on Friday at around 3:30 p.m. Police say the employee had suspected that a male in the store was shoplifting and followed him around to see what he was doing.
They say the employee followed the suspect outside, and was standing in the doorway of the business. The suspect came back inside and sprayed the employee in the face with pepper spray and fled.

The employee sought medical treatment at Sanford Health. The suspect is described as a 6’3″ Native American male that weighs around 150 lbs.
