Heritage Music Festival Offering Performances For All Ages

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- The organizers of the 13th Annual Heritage Music Festival are inviting families to spend a day filled with musical performances to benefit local children.

The festival will feature live country, gospel and variety music by performers from across South Dakota on Saturday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Elk Point Jefferson School Gym. Donations are accepted at the door to benefit Elk Point Masonic Lodge High School Scholarships and CHild Identification Programs, known as CHIP.

People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. The venue will be air conditioned.

Featured artists include nationally renowned Terry S. Smith who is famous for Johnny Cash’s recording of “Far Side Banks of Jordan.”  He is also the National Traditional Country Music Association Songwriter of the Year in 1995 and 1996.

Also on the schedule is local singer entertainer Elaine Peacock of Elk Point, who is a recording artist and has released eight CDs since 2003. She sings and entertains regularly in the Midwest performing gospel, Patsy Cline, Christmas, Patriotic, Children’s music and more. Peacock is also a square dance caller, 2009 NTCMA & 2010 South Dakota Hall of Fame Inductee.

Concessions start at 11 a.m. and a roast beef dinner by the local Masons will be at 5 p.m.
