Sioux Falls Police Arrested Man On Attempted Rape Charges

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Police arrested a Sioux Falls man after they say he attempted to rape a woman early Sunday morning.

Police say around 12:45 a.m. a 21-year-old woman and a friend of hers were hanging out with another person in a garage on the 700 block of West 11th Street behind Munchies. The 21-year-old’s friend left and locked the garage door behind him.

Police say that the suspect then told the woman to take off her clothes or else he was going to kill her. As the suspect tried to pull her clothes she screamed for help. Three people in the area heard the screaming and were able to open the garage door.

The suspect fled before police arrived but the woman knew who he was.

Police arrested 50-year-old Sergio Marroquin at his residence in central Sioux Falls and arrested him on attempted rape charges
