Police: Motorcyclists Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries After Colliding With Truck

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KDLT) – Authorities say a motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after a collision with a pickup on Monday.

Authorities say a 1985 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling North on North 4th Avenue. A 2011 Nissan Frontier pickup was stopped on East Maple Street waiting to go through the intersection.

The pickup driver did not see the motorcycle and pulled out in front of it.  The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the pickup and vaulted over the truck.  The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, authorities say he was not wearing a helmet.

Authorities say the initial investigation shows that speed and drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The truck driver is a 25-year -old Sioux Falls man and the motorcyclist is a 49-year-old Sioux Falls man.
