Vote Coming On Swimming Pool Bond In Lennox

LENNOX, S.D. – Since the end of May the Lennox pool has been closed due to safety issues. But the small town may not have to be pool-less forever. Residents will be voting on a bond issuance to build a new pool in less than a month.

The new pool would cost $2.8 million, and include a bath house and concession stand. If approved, taxes will increase for homeowners to pay for the pool. The impact is an estimated $225 per $100,000 dollars of valuation in people’s home per year.

The old pool would be removed to make way for the new aquatic facility.

“We have a lot of younger families in our community and we are also trying to grow and we believe that to get those younger families to stay in our community and continue to have people move here, we need to have those quality of life amenities like a swimming pool,” says Lennox City Administrator Amanda Anglin.

The election will take place on August 22. Residents have to be registered to vote before August 7th in order to vote. The city will be holding two informational meetings on August 7th and 8th for people to learn more about the planning process.
