Ian Theisen takes a look at the Vikings RB situation

With this being the Minnesota Vikings last training camp ever held in Mankato after 52 long years, it almost seems fitting that one of the franchises biggest stars is no longer with the team. All-time leading rusher Adrian Peterson parted ways with the team after the Vikings decided not to pick up his 2017 option on his contract. So what’s next for the Vikings who ranked dead last in the NFL in rushing last year? The team went out and singed Latavius Murray who rushed for 12 TD’s for the Oakland Raiders last season. And in the second round drafted Dalvin Cook who rushed for 4,000 yards in his 3 years at Florida State. Cook os excited to share the back field with veteran Murray.

Dalvin Cook, Vikes Rookie RB:”We’re going to push each other and I think the good thing about this backfield is that we’ve got some workhorses in the backfield…guys that are going to push each other to the next level and get the best out of each other…”

The Vikings also have Veteran Jerrick McKinnon along with Augustana alum C.J. Ham who is making the transition from running back to possibly the teams starting fullback.

CJ Ham, Vikings Fullback:”It’s a new process for me. I’m still doing running back stuff and make myself more valuable to I can play both positions…”

One thing is for sure all 4 of them could have big roles for the next years running attack. In Mankato at Vikes Camp with Zach Borg, Ian Theisen KDLT Sports..
