Airbnb Reaches Tax Agreement With South Dakota, Tax Collection Begins In September
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota will soon be cashing in on Airbnb bookings in the state.
Beginning September 1st, Airbnb will begin collecting and remitting state taxes on all bookings in South Dakota. The sales and tourism taxes will be charged when booking through Air BNB. The South Dakota Department of Revenue says the state has more than 600 Airbnb hosts, whose typical annual host income is about $4,400.
South Dakota has had roughly $26,000 bookings over the last year.
