KDLT News Today Anchor
Carleen is KDLT News’ morning anchor and reporter, having joined the team in August of 2017. She brings a variety of experience into the role, working most of her career — 15 years, in broadcast journalism. In recent years, however, she has worked mainly in print, social media, photography, voiceover work, and online for various news and professional outlets from her home office in rural Moody County.
It was in 2013 that she moved to the acreage she now calls home in South Dakota to combine families with her husband, someone she had met through a story she was assigned while working for the NBC affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin. She feels fortunate to have had that time to really focus on her family, but she also realized she would like to better know and cover this place she now calls home — and she looks forward to doing both through her role at KDLT.
Carleen says it is rare she meets a person who doesn’t have a story worth sharing — and she is sincerely grateful for a career that allows her to do just that. She looks forward to meeting you and covering the people, places, and issues affecting South Dakota. You can connect with Carleen at firstname.lastname@example.org or @carleenwild on Twitter.
On a personal note, Carleen and her husband, Casey, a Plankinton native, share four children between them and they’re grateful to be hosting a foreign exchange student this year as well from Malaga, Spain. The family is incredibly active with the kids all engaged in various sports, rodeo, and other activities. The couple themselves is also active volunteering with their music program at church, and the two play in a band as well. Carleen, a Wisconsin native, is also an avid runner, skier, loves the outdoors, spending down time with family and close friends, riding horses, and volunteering where she can, including with her local economic development corporation.
