Howard’s Tigers Roaring To Start 2017

Impressive Wins Have Howard Poised To Contend For State Title

FREEMAN, S.D.  —  It might be hard for any team this year to notch two more impressive road wins in consecutive weeks than the Howard Tigers, a team that has risen from two rough years to suddenly become a contender in 9A.

One week after winning 32-30 at 9AA’s 5th ranked Garretson, the Tigers finished off 9A’s top ranked Canistota/Freeman Pride 27-26 in Freeman yesterday.

Howard won the state championship back in 2014 but graduated nearly everyone from that team, forcing them to play freshman and sophomores the last two years.  After going 4-12 those two seasons the young players have grown up and, behind a bruising rushing attack, seem poised to dish out some of the punishment they’ve taken.

The Tigers play their home opener on Friday against Parker.
