Sioux Falls Boy Collecting Sports Equipment For Children In Need

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- We first introduced you to 14-year-old Donnie Stoltz earlier this year, when he was recognized by Prudential for his volunteering efforts to give back to others. Donnie started his organization called ‘Donnie’s Closet in 2011, where he would collect gently used sports equipment and give it to kids in needs

Just recently he was contacted by ESPN to be a part of their nationwide ‘Game-Winning Drive’ campaign. As part of the campaign, he has to collect used sports equipment and donate it to local organizations. So far he has collected 114 items and he’s hoping to raise that number before the September 30, deadline. He will be holding a collection drive on September 16, at Rainbow Comics, Cards and Collectibles from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. He says his hope is to help as many as he can

“It’s probably the most exciting thing a person will be able to do because you get to see a whole bunch of smiles, you get to meet a whole bunch of people, and it’s just a fun experience,” says Donnie Stoltz.

Donnie is currently sitting in third place for the campaign; he will also have a chance to win a $5,000 scholarship. For anyone not able to make the collection drive, or organizations interested in receiving the items, they can contact Donnie on his Facebook page:
