Three Sent To Hospital After Car Collision

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- The Sioux Falls Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash that sent three people to the hospital.

It happened around 11 this morning in the area of 26th street and South Sycamore Avenue. Police say 2 people were leaving a business in the area and another car was southbound when the two vehicles collided. A child and two adults were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police say the original call came in as a car fire.

“At 11:20, we got information that two cars had been in an accident. There was a fear that one of the cars was on fire, but preliminary investigation suggests that was actually just dust from the airbag, which smells burnt so it’s a common misconception that the car is on fire,” says Sergeant Tom Ward.

South Sycamore Avenue was closed to traffic temporarily, but it has reopened.
