SF School District Offering Free Flu Shots

Middle and high schools in Sioux Falls are offering free flu shots to students.

Students at Washington High School lined up for their shots Wednesday.  The free clinic is set up to keep students and staff healthy during flu season.  The district did not offer free flu shots last year because of state funding cuts.  That funding was reinstated this year, allowing schools the chance to help students.

“What we saw last year when we didn’t provide it in the school was the increase of the flu in general, I believe, and also just the fact that students were not going into the clinic to get them done,” says Washington High School Nurse Carrie Clarke.

Parents do need to fill out a vaccine consent form.  That form and a vaccine schedule can be found on the school district’s website.
