Wagner Teen Raises Thousands For Cancer Patients

WAGNER, S.D. – What started as a dare between friends turned into thousands of dollars raised for people battling cancer.

Wagner High School sophomore Grant Namminga and several others shaved their heads Friday at the school’s homecoming pep rally.  A week ago, Grant was dared by his friend to shave his head.  His mom allowed it, but only if he did it for a reason: to raise money for cancer patients who often suffer from hair loss during treatment.  Grant set a goal: if the community donated $500 he would shave his head.  But, Thursday morning, more people got on board including the Wagner High School principal and several teachers.  Altogether, they raised $6,200 for the Wagner Cancer Society and now they’re all sporting buzz cuts.
