Two Opposing Teams, One Display of Unity

Beresford watchdogs hosted the Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans
BERESFORD, S.D. – Two opposing football teams met on-field before their game Friday night in a display of unity.

The Beresford watchdogs hosted the Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans.

Before kickoff, the two teams along with senior parents from Beresford High School, took to the field for the National Anthem carrying a large American flag and holding it up during the anthem.

First PREMIER Bank sponsored the flag ceremony in cooperation with Maximum Promotions.

The display is intended to encourage sportsmanship and patriotism.

Maximum Promotions, a producer of school banners and flags, provides the flags and coordinates with the schools throughout the region to provide the ceremony.

Beresford’s athletic director, Geoff Gross, also helped coordinate hanging flags around the field with the help of the local Athletic Booster Club, student council and local volunteers.
