DUI, Careless Driving Citations Issued In Rush Hour Crash

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Two drivers are ticketed in a crash that sent them and two others to the hospital.

Sioux Falls police say around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the intersection of 34th Street and S. Louise Avenue for a car accident.  Investigators say a Ford Taurus was southbound on Louise when the driver lost control.  The car spun around and hit a Chevy pickup truck stopped in northbound traffic just north of the intersection.  The drivers of both vehicles as well as the two passengers in the Chevy were hospitalized for their injuries, but those injuries are non-life threatening.

The 20-year-old woman driving the Ford was cited for careless driving.  The driver of the Chevy, a 40-year-old woman, ended up being cited for DUI.

Four people were taken the hospital from an accident near a busy intersection in Sioux Falls.

The two-car accident happened near the intersection of Louise Avenue and 34th Street in front of Walmart just before 4:30 p.m. Police to closed the northbound lanes on Louise, creating rush hour delays.

Authorities don’t know what caused the accident, the level of injuries for those involved. We’ll have more information as it comes.
