Mankato Foils Augustana Again In NSIC Soccer Championship

Vikings Lose 13th Straight Against Mavericks 2-0

MANKATO, Minn. – Top seeded Minnesota State won its sixth NSIC Women’s Soccer Tournament as they defeated third seeded Augustana 2-0 at the Pitch in Mankato, Minnesota. With the win the Mavericks earn the NSIC’s automatic qualification to the NCAA Central Region Tournament.

Minnesota State’s Alesha Duccini scored at the 9:22 mark as she earned NSIC Women’s Soccer Tournament MVP honors. Morgan Cottew added an insurance goal at 49:38 as she was one six Mavericks to earn All-Tournament honors. The Mavericks outshot the Vikings 29-3 in the match and 15-0 in shots on goal.

Minnesota State will be joined by Southwestern Oklahoma State from the GAC and Central Missouri from the MIAA as automatic qualifiers from the NCAA Central Region. The complete NCAA championship bracket will be announced on Monday, November 6 via a webcast selection show on at 5 p.m. (CT). The regional tournament will begin November 9 on regional campuses.
