Sioux Falls Native Cedrick Lang Hoping To Catch On With Vikings

O'Gorman Alum Only Recently Began Playing Football Again

EAGAN, MN  —  Cedrick Lang’s football career appeared to end after an injury in his freshman season at O’Gorman led to him focusing on basketball.

However, after getting back on the gridiron in college, the Sioux Falls native is a late bloomer that’s hoping to make the roster of the team he grew up watching, the Minnesota Vikings.

Cedrick signed with the Vikings back in January and is working out on the offensive line.  At 6’9”, Lang played college basketball at the University of Texas-El Paso after graduating from O’Gorman in 2011.  During his final year at UTEP in 2016 he went out for the football team and played tight end.

His size and athleticism got him opportunities in training camps with the New York Giants and Denver Broncos.  Now that he’s got more experience under his belt, Cedrick’s focusing on becoming an offensive lineman, and will look to earn either a roster spot or practice squad job with Minnesota.

Check back on Monday for more on Lang’s unique path to the NFL when we feature him as our Karl’s TV & Appliance Athlete of the Week.
